  2. Does your business have written employee policies and procedures?

  3. Do you own any interest in a closely held company?

  4. If you have multiple businesses, do you have written intercompany agreements?

  5. If you have business partners, have you documented your agreement?

  6. Are you looking to buy, sell or liquidate a business in the near future?

Estate Planning

  1. Do you have a will that governs who will inherit your assets and under what conditions?

  2. Are all your real estate, business interests and investments currently held in a Trust?

  3. Is there anything in writing regarding who you want to be in charge and how you want to be treated if you ever become sick, injured or incapacitated?

  4. Have you executed documents relating to how you want your minor children to be treated in the event you and their other parent is unable to care for them?

  5. If the answer to any of the above is yes, have you updated that document in the last two years?

  6. Is your household net worth, including life insurance policies, in excess of $5,000,000?

  7. Are the beneficiaries named in your bank/retirement accounts the same persons in the same proportions as those named in your estate planning documents?

  8. Are you the trustee or beneficiary of any trust?

Real Estate

  1. Do you own any real estate in addition to your primary residence?

  2. Do you own any real estate in your individual name?

  3. Do you expect to buy, sell or refinance any real estate in the near future?


  1. Which CPA do you consult at least once a year?

  2. Which financial adviser do you consult at least once a year for investment/retirement planning?

  3. Do you have any unfilled tax returns, unreported income, unpaid tax bills, tax liens or levies?

  4. Do you have any bank accounts, income or assets outside the U.S.?

  5. Do you have a commercial mortgage or line of credit that needs to be refinanced or is maturing soon?

  6. Are you and your spouse U.S. citizens, or lawful permanent residents (i.e. “green card” holders)?

  7. If you and your spouse are not citizens or residents, do you spend more than 90 total days a year in the U.S.?

  8. Do you maintain a second home in the U.S.?


  1. Do you have any minor children?

  2. If so, are your children old enough to drive?

  3. If any children of yours are minors , are they protected should you die and your spouse remarry, be sued or err in managing the family’s finances?

  4. If you or your spouse have children from prior marriages, have you planned for how you would like those children to be treated legally?

  5. If you are planning on marrying soon, do you have a prenuptial agreement?

  6. Do you have a dependent or potential heir with special needs?

  7. Have you recently been seriously injured or the victim of medical malpractice?

  8. Are there any pending or threatened lawsuits against you or your business?

  9. Do you serve on the board of directors?

  10. Do you own a boat or aircraft?

  11. Do you have a pool or trampoline at home?

  12. Do you hold any professional licenses?

  2. If so, are the persons named as beneficiaries on your policies the same persons and in the same proportions as those name d in your estate planning documents?
